Corbett national Park was named in the honor of late Jim Corbett, a British hunter, naturalist, author and photographer.
The Corbett Wildlife Sanctuary is an excellent and largely inviolate specimen of the rich sal and mixed woodland that spans the outer Himalayas. Because of its rich biogeographic diversity, the Park is a natural haven for the flora and fauna of the plains, the sub mountainous regions and high altitude areas.
Corbett National park is famous for its wide range of species like Tigers, Leopards, Crocodiles, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Dhole, Jackal, Yellow Throated Martem, Himalayan Palm Civet, Indian Grey Mongoose.
Besides, the park houses above 600 avian species which include resident as well as migratory birds. Most famous migratory birds which visiting the park are Sandpiper, Greylag, Duck, Bar-headed Goose, Snipe, Grepe and Wagtail.
As with the rest of the country, there are three well-defined seasons at the Corbett National Park-winter from November to February, summer from March to June and the rainy season the rest of the year. Corbett is closed for public from June 15 to November 15.
